Silver Wings News January 2010

1/32 FIAT CR32/CR32 bis

1/48 HAWKER WOODCOCK

Many thanks to Wojciech of Silver Wings for sending us the news of his latest 2 resin kits to soon be released. The first of these releases, the Fiat CR.32 addresses a significant gap in the LSP market for inter-war aircraft, especially Italian ones. This kit should prove to be popular, especially if you consider the reputation that Silver Wings have for their quality and attention to detail. This kit has PE parts and the struts and landing gear are metal reinforced to take the weight of all that resin.
Six sets of mask/decal markings will be available for this kit, and they are:
  1. CR32 quater No 410-8: “Romantica Squadriglia”, Africa Orientale, 1941
  2. CR32 No 154-4: 6o Stormo, 2o Gruppo, 154 Squadriglia  “Diavoli Rossi”, Campoformido, 1936
  3. CR32 No 7: 10o Gruppo Autonomo Caccia della Baleari ( 10th Independent Fighter Group of the Balearics), San Juan, Mallorca, 1938
  4. CR32bis No 3-51: “La Partulla Sazul” (The Blue Patrol),  2-G-2, Zaragoza, April  of 1937
  5. CR 32bis  No 147: Luftwaffe, I/LG 138, Asperne, 1938
  6. CR 32bis: Luftwaffe – fighter trainer, 1942

Next in line is the dumpy looking Hawker Woodcock. This curious looking machine is another inter-war fighter biplane, but of course, from Britain.  Again, PE and metal reinforced struts and undercarriage are included. Two sets of markings are supplied for this kit. These are:
  1. RAF No. 3 Sqn, Upavon
  2. RAF No. 17 Sqn, Upavon

Please enjoy a few pictures of the artworks and schemes you will have the option to build.

As an aside to this, if you want an idea of what a completed Silver Wings model looks like, then please check these out. These are the 1/72 Supermarine Southampton. This looks amazing for such a small scale, and this model was built by Jacek Sznajder.
